First and foremost, a belated Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone!
Since the kickoff of the Beckwith 9th Line North project at the beginning of November, the crew at Community Fibre has been very busy with the many details required to make the project happen.
- Survey / Engineering work is currently in progress to obtain permits to install our fibre optic cables.
- Our crew is now fully trained to be able to operate and adhere to all local protocols and procedures.
- Materials are being ordered for construction,
- And most important, Financing is in place!
Prior to the ground freezing, our techs took advantage of the weather to install numerous fibre optic service drops. We bury drops using our Ditch Witch 100SX vibratory plow which vibrates cables into the ground with minimal disturbance of the surface of the soil.
As of January 16th 2018, we are pleased to announce that we have our first permits from Hydro Ottawa! This is perhaps the most tangible progress in the 9th Line North project, as we will begin installing cables along Dwyer Hill and Flewellyn over the course of the next few weeks. These cables will connect our PoP to the 9th Line, providing the light on the fibre optic cables for service.
2018 is looking to be a very busy year for Community Fibre! We have a lot of work ahead of us, and are getting quite exciting about lighting up service to the first houses in the spring!
